Oak Beam RESTORATION / New Workshop Lintel
Переглядів 30 тис.3 роки тому
In this video I'll show how I restored an old oak beam that will be used as lintel for my new workshop exit door to the backyard. I've upcycled 9 of these beams to use them as lintels for our new home. These ancient beams come from a family's 200 years old farmhouse. I hope you enjoy this video. DIY Outdoor Cat Shelter

Recently, a local stray kitten settled in our backyard. "Fosca" plays with our chickens and watches out for field mice (we hope!) in exchange for frequent food offerings and the odd petting session. In this video, I'll show you how I built her a winter shelter. Our could season is no joke, and I wanted her to have a well-insulated home to call her own. SUSHI Serving TRAY / How to / Woodworking
Переглядів 21 тис.4 роки тому
In this video I'll show how I made a Serving Tray from Reclaimed Wood from old pine shelves. I used sliding dovetails for the base. I choose one of my prefered finishes: Shou-Sugi-Ban (焼杉板) also known as Yakisugi which adds really deep texture on soft woods as pine or cedar, besides an awesome protection for wood. Knife Making: Hand Forged Japanese Knife / EXTREMELY sharp
Переглядів 21 тис.4 роки тому
My brother and I decided to forge a pair of japanese fillet knives out of 1095 steel. Both single beveled; one for left handed and other for right handed. In this video you'll see how we fully forged and ground the two knives. As we were on a rush, we decided to focus on his knife to finish it before he left. Sadly we couldn't do it so I decided to finish it for his next visit ;). If you like t...

SILENT ANVIL / Kill Ringing / How to / Blacksmith
Переглядів 19 тис.4 роки тому
In this video I'll show how I silenced my anvil. After restoring my anvil and making a base for it, I realized how loud it was when working with it. My goal is to dampen that noise. There are many other ways to muffle it that I'm not going to be exploring in this video, such as fabricating a heavier stand, adding heavy chains... However, those do not fit in with my desire for quick, easy, and a...

How to Build a Fire in a Wood Stove
Переглядів 1,2 млн5 років тому
In this video I'll show you how I start a fire in my workshop's stove in less than 5 minutes with sawdust, wood shavings, and scraps from woodworking. Now I can get my 30m2 (4m ceiling) workshop in half a...

Grinding on the side of a wheel like that should be avoided, or done very lightly, they can explode.

Nail (2) 2"x4" boards one each end of the log minimum 3' long each. Stabilize the log, then slow ,steady straight push forwards. Can put you n an old aluminum ladder with rolling wheel rail system. Use a bicickle brake handle as your throttle. Use rear brake of BMX,mountain bike. It will also have a recyclable throttle cable.

I'm in the middle of building a cat house for outside of the house when our cat Nico has to wait for us while it's raining. I was thinking of some insulation for the floor (i.e.waterproof fabric) and was going to have some raised legs too so the cold morning floor wont affect him but it never occurred to me to put insulation in the sides and roof inbetween boardings. Even though I am only a beginner and have made a large birdhouse/feeder for my dad I feel your awesome skills are going to help me a GREAT deal! Thank you for this upload. You got a new subber :]

Beautiful job, but many of us do not have ur skills or tools. If my dad was alive, this would be a labor of love. I own some tools, but not to ur extent. My one question is this. The roof being slanted high in the front, doesn't rain or snow enter. Do you believe a pyramid type roof extended over door may have proved somewhat beneficial? Or the roof slanted down over door may be good? Maybe a pyramid type may lose body heat, unsure. I'd appreciate knowing. I've always wished I owned a house to create a wood shop but guess it wasn't in God's plans. I'm 76, guess my dream is over. So many strays here. Thank you for showing us this efficient home. ❤ I love watching these DIY videos. We get so many ideas on making homes for the poor outside kitties. Maybe God can grant me another 50 yrs of life soni can do these projects. We learn so much when we get older and realuze, time has really slipped by. Blessed 2024 to all.
